Yankees Add 5-Time All-Star as Battle for Machado Continues The New York Yankees added some infield depth by coming to terms with veteran shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Or the long-term plan might be to play Machado at short and let go of Gregorius, 28, after this season when he is a free agent. Or perhaps the Yankees are getting cold feet about plunking down $300 million to $400 million on Machado and want Tulowitzki as insurance. Sources say no, this move does not mean they are moving on from Machado, but only time will tell where he winds up. Tulowitzki, 34, is a five-time All-Star who has spent most of the last two years with the Blue Jays on the injured list.
