Is Minds Selectively Censoring or is Their Boost System Screwed up? (Originally published Sunday)
+++ Second time I'm trying to upload this. First time was on Sunday and it seemed ok, but then I checked Tuesday and it was still processing. Still processing two days later??? Very sketchy. The Boost system on Minds is really fucked up. The question is: Is it messed up by mistake or is it by design? I don't really like biting the hand that feeds me here because I have met a lot of cool people here on Minds and it still beats much of the competition. But there is some fishy shit going on Minds and the number of people complaining about it is growing. For me, it seems like every other boost of mine is put in some weird limited state. And even the ones that aren't, why is it the likes only seem to come in towards the end of the Boost cycle? It's like its limiting the reach of the Boosts to the last couple hundred of however many people you paid it to boost to. Take this post I boosted for example: A meme about the Virginia Rally. This is the sort of thing that should do REALLY FUCKING WELL here on Minds as here memes rain supreme it seems. And yet, whenever I try to boost the same kind of memes that some channels on here result in several hundred views with, they get little to no attention. Why is that?
Some posts I'll boost will be found easily on the Newsfeeds. Lately, it looks like its my musical posts because they know most people on here won't take the time to listen to it so it won't have much reach. But the memes are a different story. My friends and I almost never see them on the Newsfeed. The Virginia Rally post has gotten next to no likes since being Boosted on Thursday and it can't be seen at all on the Newsfeed. Before some paid troll says 'its because you suck and non one likes you', bear in mind this: I Boost music and videos on there and they get 15 to 30 likes or more pretty much every time. And that's stuff that is a niche audience because most people on Minds prefer memes to music or anything else because they don't have to take anytime at all to like. The memes I boost are the same kind of memes that popular memecentric channels like Censorship Sucks or !'mAwesome420 post all the time and get hundreds of likes on in a matter of days. But whenever I do it, they get little to no likes, signinfigantly less than my music and videos which are a niche audience. The opposite should be true. My thinking is that, if this is deliberate: They don't want me branching my audience and making it more universal beyond my art because then I might attract more people and get them listening to my art as a sort of gateway drug. That's what it seems like to me.
Since the camera quality on my phone sucks balls, I am providing links below to the Boosted Virginia Rally post, the post where I'm talking about all of this, and the rather limited response from the Help desk (surprise! surprise! They were mostly dismissive initially and completely flaked out as soon as I provided my evidence, hoping this will just be swept underneath the rug).
+++Addendum: Since Monday, the fishy shit going on with my blog 'magically lifted' and it was able to get 100 something likes. So pretty much most people who saw it liked it immediately. It seems convenient this video failed to publish and then whatever shadowbanning was going on with the blog mysteriously lifted, eh? Thankfully I captured this video on Saturday and the various screenshots in the blogs below that show the post was apparently getting Views even though not a single soul AT THAT TIME was liking it. I still am convinced that Minds has the option of putting certain Boosts in a limited state for the first 60 to 70 percent of however much you Boost for then lift it towards the end to give you visibility to a smaller amount of people. Minds doesn't practice direct censorship but a more covert, 'friendlier' version of it. Soft censorship. Semi-censorship. It's like you're only allowed to get MAXIMUM visibility if you are some kind of Far Right/Far Left/Fake Trumpster Center Divide and Conquer Agent or some harmless apolitical inconsequential meme artist...or someone who is working for them. True Anarchist Mavericks like myself? Put in a limited state. Who knows how many people I would've reached if the 2500 views I paid for would've gone though properly. The likes probably would've been in the thousands. But just keep thinking Minds is truly a free speech network and not just censorship in disguise. And judging by how this video mysteriously unpublished, perhaps Bitchute is too?
