A Big Hand for This 'Zombie' Artist

McLean Krieger decided to take his Halloween costume one step further this year. The artist made a zombie arm puppet which created the optical illusion that McLean was holding a dismembered arm. McLean told Storyful how this creative project came about: “I had the idea after seeing the more classic version of this costume, which is just a person holding their own severed hand. I specifically chose a zombie arm because the puppetry really sells the effect that it is a living hand”. He explained that the costume is not electronically controlled, despite how it appears. The ‘zombie hand’ is McLean’s real hand covered in liquid latex and sprinkled with sand and glitter, while the hand holding the wrist is fake.
