The topic of slavery is a very sensitive issue in today's world, and rightfully so. Many in the past have tried to justify the atrocities of Antebellum Slavery in the United States by whichever means they could, even trying to use the Bible to do so. But does the Bible actually support what they claimed? Let's take a look at various codes of law from the Ancient Near East and compare them to the law given in the Old Testament, to show just how slavery was in the past, and to then show why claiming the Bible supports slavery like that of the Antebellum Period is an erroneous one.
