**** Note **** poor (1987) quality - extracted from VHS cassette.
1987 - the year that Australia 'lost-back' the Americas cup to USA - the race which coincided with this conference and held off of Perth.
I add this video because IMO Alan's opening speech is as relevant now as it was in 1987 - sheer genius - 40 minutes without notes and no telepromters in those days.
I didn't attend the conference personally but this video was made (originally on VHS casette) - hence the 1987 quality.
For those who don't know, Alan's renowned for his no-holds-barred straight talking which is somewhat refreshing in todays political correctness and which made Alan consistently Australia's leading talk-back, (many times controversial), radio host.
Alan's message here so impressed me then I took it to heart from that day to this day for both my business and in my personal life. This would have been one of the best decisions I've ever made.
I still talk-the-talk and walk-the-walk. e.g. as Alan says - 'You can't beat the scoreboard'. And it's true.
To this day, Alan - who is now about 80 years of age is as still active and as 'out-there' as ever but now on Sky news.
