Shadow of the Beast - Mashou no Kite ("The Diabolic Law") (シャドー･オブ･ザ･ビースト魔性の掟) is the Japanese Mega Drive / Genesis release of Shadow of the Beast (short: SofB). SofB is a platformer that was developed by Reflections Interactive for various home computers and ported to the Mega Drive / Genesis by WJS Design. The Japanese release is an improved version of the original port. The original port which was released in America and Europe by EA, was very poor. Victor Musical Industries, the Japanese publisher of the game, demanded several improvement. So many of the colours where reworked, the protagonist's sprite redrawn, the sound effects became more crisp, the music was improved and a real ending sequence was added. Also, the horrible controls and collision detection where improved to some extend.
