France: Metal fencing protects Paris restaurant amid Champs Elysees lockdown

French authorities prohibited protests from taking place on the famous Champs Elysees in Paris, Saturday. The military was also put on stand-by while the Le Fouquet's restaurant was protected by metal fencing after it was set alight last week during protests.

The announcement came after violence erupted during the anti-Marcon "gilets jaunes" ("yellow vest") protests last week. During the 18th round of nationwide demonstrations on March 16, 60 people, including 17 police officers, were injured in the French capital when protesters smashed up and burned shops and businesses on the Champs Elysees.

According to reports, other cities across the country, such as Nice and Bordeaux, were also set with similar restrictions as more protests are expected on Saturday.
