Virtue of Recollection

Recollection is that habit of paying attention to the presence of God in the soul. Jesus is in the midst of the pharisees but they fail to recognize Him since they allow anger, pride and their passions to consume them. They seek not the truth but worry over what may threaten. The pharisees represent the parts of our own soul. How much better our life would be if we remembered Him always. This is not that hard. Consider how being recollected with God is similar to how good spouses are mindful of each other. They build habits which preserve each other's presence and reflect their unity. In difficult times, they look to the past and the future. There are some key differences. One can possess God as soon as one turns to Him. Moreover, He never abandons us nor is He unfaithful or imperfect. Thus, the Christian should rejoice for nothing can separate him from the love of Christ.
