What is Hypnosis?
Hey guys it’s Lizzie here, your virtual Certified Hypnotherapist.
Lately, a LOT of people have been asking me, what is Hypnosis? There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding Hypnosis and today I’m going to break it down in as SIMPLE of terms as possible.
Hypnosis is SIMPLY being in a state of mind, also known as being in trance. We all go into a trance naturally EVERY single day and most of the time we don’t even notice it. Some examples are when we’re daydreaming or about to fall asleep. It’s nothing more than a state of physical and mental relaxation.
When we go into trance it becomes possible to open the door between two parts of our mind. These two parts are called the CONSCIOUS mind and the UNCONSCIOUS mind.
The CONSCIOUS mind is responsible for all of our reasoning and decision making. The CONSCIOUS mind is located in the neo cortex part of our brain.
The UNCONSCIOUS mind, also known as the limbic brain, acts as a storage for emotional memories. When any new stimulus enters the brain, the brain tries to understand it based on our previous experiences.
Every single event and emotion that we felt throughout our ENTIRE lives have created an imprint on our unconscious mind.
The UNCONSCIOUS mind creates pathways based on our previous experiences, and if you have the SAME experience multiple times, these pathways can actually send UNHELPFUL or INACCURATE messages to your conscious mind, influencing your current thoughts, emotions and decisions.
For example, say you were in an abusive relationship. Throughout that time, you learned from your partner that it was NOT safe to express the truth of who you were, WHAT your needs were HOW you were feeling. And if you ever DID honestly and openly express your personal truth to this person, you were INSTANTLY mocked, criticized and ridiculed.
Your UNCONSCIOUS mind created pathways during that difficult time to be able to instantly recognize any similar situation in the future, with the intention of keeping you physically and emotionally safe. Now, you’re out of the abusive relationship BUT you find yourself struggling to open up to a new partner.
HYPNOSIS activates the UNCONSCIOUS mind, also known as the limbic brain, where we store and process emotional memories. Hypnosis also UNCOVERS FORGOTTEN memories that have been hiding out in our unconscious minds for YEARS or EVEN decades.
Activating our unconscious mind with Hypnosis allows our CONSCIOUS mind to override beliefs that are no longer serving us in our lives today, and SIMULTANEOUSLY gives us a new perspective on our past experiences and behavioral patterns. Hypnosis ULYIMATELY gives you clarity, peace and a new sense of who you are.
You are NOT your past experiences and you have the choice to RECLAIM your sense of self and build the life that you always wanted.
Remember who you are by allowing hypnosis to clean out the attic of your mind and trandform it into a beautiful space to create all you could ever dream of.
EVERYTHING is possible with hypnosis.
Be well and have a good week
