U.S. Deploys Troops After Protesters Storm Embassy in Iraq
Dramatic scenes unfolded in Baghdad yesterday, prompting the US to send about a hundred marines to the US embassy, and deploy 650 82nd airborne troops to Kuwait for standby in case the situation escalates. Additionally, the Defense and State departments have put 4000 paratroopers on standby in the US in case more backup is needed. All this comes in the wake of a US civilian contractor who was killed by a strike on a Iraqi base, which the US responded by launching an airstrike of their own on Kataib Hezbollah.
