DURATION: 24m04s -- In witnessing the return of José Bautista to the Rogers Centre in Toronto last night, along with his new baseball club -- the New York Mets -- I got to thinking about how older athletes who still compete are essentially older versions of young athletes who have simply succeeded in reinventing themselves to assure their longevity and relevance to the game.

Related to that is the reason why pure youth doesn't work in politics and why Canada's present Liberal government make-up will not make it to a second term.

The concept of a new "youth Cabinet" is great in theory, impossible in practice. And Canadians have indeed learned their lesson this time around.

2015's "Grand Mistake" will not be repeated in 2019.
