Wenn in stiller Stunde (Pommernlied) - Anthem of Pomerania + English Translation

The Pommernlied, also called the song of the Pomeranians, is the national anthem of the former Prussian province of Pomerania. It was created in 1851 and goes back to the theologian and poet Adolf Pompe. As a regional anthem in the Western Pomeranian part of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, it still plays a role in regional songs today. The Pomeranian song has a much greater ideal meaning for the refugees and expellees from Eastern Pomerania as a reminder of their lost homeland.
The melody is from the 1818 song "Freiheit, die ich meine" which was composed by Karl August Groos.
Pompe came up with the idea for the song during a hike with several students from a Christian student fraternity in the Harz Mountains: "At every inn, the various people would have started singing their homeland songs one after the other, only the Pomeranians would have only listened sadly, because they had none."
Pompe then immediately designed the text for a corresponding song and presented it to his compatriots.
