Anytime the Media is in unison and focused on something,

The Confederate flag represented the Exact opposite what the big media says it represents.

War is about money, Period. The South didn't 'Declare War'. The South 'declared Secession' (left the North's Raw Deal)..
What was really happening was that the largest industries in the North (namely the Big Railroads) was being heavily subsidized by the Federal government with tax money. The Federal tax were many paid by the South on Imported goods at the point of Exchange of the South's Exported good, such as cotton. In effect this was a tax on cotton. The Morrill Tariff was passed in the house by a large margin in 1860, the main sponsor of the bill, Morrill being heavily invested personally in the big Northern railroads, had strong financial motives to pass this high tariff. Abe Lincoln was a high-powered attorney for the Big northern railroads and this railroad industry heavily backed him as their political representative. When Abe Lincoln won the election with a minority of the popular vote, it sealed the fate of the South as this Morrill tariff would destroy the South economically as had the 'Tariff of Abominations of 1828' when South Carolina almost seceded some decades earlier.
