In this video I go again through some of the stalls, in this case some of the ones that sell fruit, because after that spicy salad and chicken, I need something to contrast and bring me down.
I saw there were many stalls selling Durian fruit, very popular in this part of the planet, have you tried it?.
One of them though, boasted about having more than one kind, in this case the Monthong (the most popular one) and the Kanyao Durian, after a brief discussion about what the difference is, which she didn't really explain that good, I said to myself "just buy it" and this way I can try it.
The price was quite high, she was selling 100g for 300 Baht which is a lot of money, after weighing it she gave me a discount. Maybe because of the stone inside, maybe because this wasn't a big exemplar. Did I get ripped off? If you are a connoisseur in this subject, please educate me. I am legitimately interested in knowing.
Also it is widely mentioned that the Kanyao Durian is also called "Lond Stem Durian" in fact, I believe that is the literal translation of "Kanyao", and the ones the lady sold there seemed to have a long stem.
I saw an entry in a Blog that mentioned there is a farm selling the Kanyao Durian for A LOT of money, but those Durians are so special and scarce that they don't even get to the markets. I mean, Or Tor Kor Market is known to be a kinda upscale place, I was just wondering that maybe it IS a Kanyao, just not from that particular farm. It's not like other people cannot cultivate this variety, right?
How to get here?: Take the "MRT" (Subway) to the NEXT station right after "Chatuchak Park", Or Tor Kor Market is right next to Chatuchak Weekend Market, literally 2 minutes away by foot. You can't miss it.
