Once Dead a thrash band of whom its primary musicians had been playing together since the late 80s’ under different incarnations, had been the premiere Christian thrash band under the name of Vengeance which they soon had to change to Vengeance Rising because of another band’s previous claim to the name. I had gotten the original release on vinyl before the name change at the Logo’s bookstore that had been on University Ave in Seattle, Washington.

As so often is the experience of fallen humanity (and musicians especially), the band Vengeance Rising had internal disputes that led to a separation of the band from the singer (Roger Martinez) who maintained the rights to the name and went on to release two more albums under the Vengeance Rising moniker. After the the disenfranchised musicians had left the Vengeance Rising band they went on to form the power metal band Die Happy, releasing two full length albums and an EP which was a part of the Intense Live series. After a period of obscurity they returned to their thrash roots as Once Dead taking their name from their final album with Vengeance Rising.
