NY Bill 9528 seeks to mandate “safety” equipment in ALL new cars starting in 2024. This is by far the most authoritarian bill regarding our freedom to travel that I have seen in a very long time.

It is not hyperbole when I say that ALL 2024 cars, from Mustang Dark Horse, Ram TRX, Dodge Banshee, Chevy Camaro, Chevy Corvette will be slower than your basic econobox.

9528 Mandates the use of “safey” and monitoring equipment in all new cars registered in NY, starting in 2024, as well as giving the DMV Commissioner complete control to mandate whatever he or she sees fit.

Brad Hoylman-Sigal (D) is the state senator sponsoring the bill, a completely out of touch politician from NYC, particularly the Village, and Upper East Side, where roads are closed, cars are not vital or even remotely part of their culture. This is the person that wants to tell YOU what your car must do.

9528 “Mandates the use of advanced safety technology in vehicles in the state and requires the commissioner of motor vehicles to promulgate certain rules and regulations.

An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to mandating the use of advanced safety technology in vehicles in the state and requiring the commissioner of motor vehicles to promulgate certain rules and regulations.”

This bill seeks to empower the NY DMV Commissioner to decide everything from what the car looks like, what equipment it must have, and who gets to use any and all date recorded from the various systems and cameras! This is a NON-ELECTED official dictating to citizens.

"Advanced safety technology includes active Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA), Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB), Emergency Lane Keeping Systems (ELKS), Blind Spot Information Systems (BSIS), drowsiness and distraction recognition technology, rear view camera sensor systems, and Event Data Recorders (EDR). BSIS shall include cyclist and pedestrian detection technology. EDR devices shall provide standardized and easily accessible data”

The bill is written more like an online article than an actual bill. Fear mongering targeted to NYC residents, non driving people, using false data that is contradicted by NYS Dept of Health and their own statistics show how stupid Hoylman thinks we are. Lies, deceipt and what we come to expect from a NYC politician.

We can stop this though.

Call your senators, congressmen, mayors, car dealerships, manufacturers, and let them know that you will not tolerate this. There is time to put pressure on NY Senate to FAIL this bill. Share this video. Contact other channels too, and lets make this happen!
