The incident, which took place in the hours after a fourth night of protests over the March police shooting of #BreonnaTaylor, is now under state and local police investigation.

Conrad, facing pressure in the aftermath of Taylor's death, had previously said he would retire at the end of June. He'd been with the department for eight years. Deputy Chief Robert Schroeder was picked at the time to serve as interim chief.
