Mozart completed this work for piano, violin and cello in 1776, and likely premiered the work himself while in Munich the following year. Mozart would have composed the work predominantly on the two-manual harpsichord that the Mozart family owned, however he had the chance to practice the piece on fortepianos while touring Europe.

This work is comprised of three movements:
I. Allegro assai
II. Adagio
III. Rondo. Tempo di menuetto
