In this video I wanted to share some of the things that I learned studying the history of chemistry and laboratory alchemy as a practical science. The alchemical theory of matter is what pre-dated the atomic theory of matter and if you don't know that matter is made of atoms the alchemical theory of matter does have a logic to it. I do not claim to be an expert on the subject merely someone who has studied practical laboratory alchemy for a few years and who can look at it from the perspective of a modern chemist.

People in the past are just as smart as they are today it's simply that their theories were not as advanced as ours. As such they don't deserve the reputation they have among modern scientific circles as a bunch of charlatans and fools. I wanted to briefly explore this fascinating aspect of chemistry's history and show how even today a study of their methods is not unwarranted. ;-)

Diclaimer: I am not advocating for any kind of spiritual view in this video. I personally think that the material universe is all there is and I don't believe in a god or gods, spirits, demons, ghosts, magic powers, psychic powers, or any of that occult rubbish. Nothing against you, dear reader, if you do but I looked for these things for 27 years of my life and I did not find them. Either I am extraordinarily inept or they simply aren't there.
