Station numbering was introduced on JR East stations in the Tokyo area from 20 August 2016. I don’t really like that system because I’d rather learn the train stations. It feels like they’re giving people training wheels. Nonetheless, the Yamanote Line stations use the prefix "JY". Tokyo station is JY01, so let’s start there and walk our way up.
