Hellraider (1989, PC)

Hellraider is a shoot'em up. It was developed by British company Frames and released by Atari UK under the label ARC. It also came out for Amiga and Atari ST.

You're a privateer whose commander of the ship HMS Raider. Your mission is to collect diamonds on the surface of a planet called Hell.

You steer the HMS Raider over the surface and collect diamonds by simply running over them. The Raider can fire in several directions, but some blind sides. To protect her from incoming enemy ships, you can launch and control a fighter called Orbital. While you use the Orbital, the Raider will automatically search for diamonds and fire at enemy ship, but you can still give her commands to change direction. You start the game with four Orbitals and you can purchase a new one after finishing a level. A level is finished once the Raider is fully loaded with diamonds. Losing Orbitals while make you more vulnerable, but you can still continue. If the Raider gets destroyed, it's game over.
