The Price of Wisdom and Principle

Sticking to one's principles and having a consistent standard is costly. Can you live with yourself if you don't stand up for them though? Even with all the hatred and nastiness that usually comes at principled people? Tragedy and horror can cause us to blink, but these are often the time we most need to stand on those principles.
