You'll be less confused if you watch lessons 9.2, 9.3, and 9.4 before you watch this one. See links below. We can compare and order fractions by comparing their numerators, or comparing their denominators. We can also use fraction strips or fraction circles to compare the size or amount of the unit fractions. We can order them from least to greatest, or greatest to least. We cannot compare fractions that represent items of different sizes. We need to compare fractions that represent the same-size whole. When we order fractions with the same numerator from least to greatest, the denominators go from greatest to least. When we order fractions with the same denominator, the numerators go down as the number of pieces go down. We can line fraction strips next to each other to compare the longest set of fraction strips to the shortest set. We can use a fraction wall to help us compare fractions.
