Caller pointed out that the CDC admits that the test, even if positive, might not be the thing making you ill. (As Mullis said, it will find all sorts of bits of genetic material but that doesn't mean you have a whole virus). Also, epi-diagnosing is addressed, i.e. calling someone "positive" even when they test negative because they have been in the presence of a "positive" person. As Dr. Cowan said, you can't diagnose by epidemiology.
