Rod Rosenstein Resigns Under Fire | 2388

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to White House chief of staff John Kelly in an attempt to prevent being fired, according to Axios reporting timestamped 10:36 am.
Rosenstein’s resignation came just days after the New York Times reported that he discussed wearing a wire to record in-person conversations with President Trump to attempt to trap him saying things that could then be used to force his resignation.
Rosenstein denied that he ever discussed or contemplated removing the President from office, however Congressman Matt Gates… said just minutes ago that if Rosenstein did not submit to an examination in front of Congressional committees this week, he would be impeached.

The most recent reports are that Rosenstein is on his way to the White House to personally submit his letter of resignation to prevent from being fired by Kelly. If this is true, then apparently President Trump and his staff overnight decided Rosenstein had to go, no matter the political turmoil that may ensue.
The President is in New York today giving a speech at the United Nations.
History will view Rosenstein’s departure from the Justice Department as the pivotal moment when the coup d’état against President Trump completely collapsed.
It would be wise for General Kelly to send the Secret Service to Rosenstein’s office at the Justice Department and seal it to prevent destruction of relevant national security documents.
