I own and am very happy with my Netatmo Weather Station but the external sensor is rather small and easily lost in a cluttered garden like mine. This new housing unit will allow me to wall mount it in a secure location within range of the Base Unit and with easy access to change batteries and otherwise administer to it. At head height on the wall, it is less likely to get lost than in the old location freestanding on top of the compost bin.
I was a bit wary having read some of the negative Amazon reviews for this product but in fact, the reality proved to be rather better than I had feared.
The product arrived very well packaged in a robust mid-market product box inside of which was the sensor mount itself, a wall mounting kit, two lockable cable ties, a velcro mount, and a well written but largely unneeded User Guide. The two cable ties were entirely useless, were brittle and snapped instantly, so who knows where they got them from or how long they had been in store. The sensor mount itself seemed fine and free from any such issues. Many reviewers complained about the colour and indeed the mount is not true white but in fact has a slight but perceptible magenta or even pink hue to it. I cannot say this concerns me unduly. The build quality itself seems fine.
The sensor housing is made from a medium weight plastic if you dropped it would be fine but if you stood on it it would break, fine in other words for the use it is intended for - to protect the contents from extremes of weather without skewing the sensor readings. It is more than large enough to house my Netatmo sensor and has an interior capacity of 60mm (diameter) x 160mm height. It has a sensor cable access hole on the bottom which can also serve as a drain hole. The entire unit can be fairly easily slid up and off the wall mount or the base twisted to release and remove the sensor.
Fitting it to the wa..
