The Venture Bros has been around for seven seasons over fifteen years, an underappreciated gem of an animated series.
Originally a parody of the 1960s Hanna-Barbera animated adventure series Jonny Quest, the the Venture Bros. has gone on to affectionately rag on pretty much every aspect of pop (especially nerd) culture, and has established a mind-boggling continuity and expansive universe.
Cartoon Network / Adult Swim were slow to commit to a second season, so Venture Bros. creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer used the final two episodes of Season 1 to set up a finish that could function as a cliffhanger or dramatic series finale... So, when the network wanted a Christmas special, it had to be placed in the show's timeline before the penultimate episode of the first season, even though it was originally broadcast more than six weeks after the end of the regular season.
I'm posting it between episodes 11 and 12, where it fits continuity wise.
Although a half-length episode, this one is packed-full, including cameos from a multitude of characters, and about a zillion Christmas pop-culture references.
