An explanation of a mid-segment of a triangle as a segment that joins the midpoints of two sides of the triangle. Every triangle has three mid-segments which form the mid-segment triangle. Examining mid-segments in the coordinate plane to show that a mid-segment is parallel to a side by using the Midpoint Formula and comparing the length of the two sides using the Distance Formula and prime factorization to simplify a radical. Using the Triangle Mid-segment Theorem to find measures of mid-segments, angles, or to find the distance across the mouth of a crater. What happens when we cut a triangle at its mid-segment, and seeing the shapes that it creates.
