The Bible teaches that repenting of your sins is works, and it also teaches that salvation is NOT of works! Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in what Jesus did, not in our own good deeds! Salvation is the gift of God to us, not the gift of us to God! Salvation comes by Jesus' sacrifice for our sins, not by our own sacrifice for Jesus!
AFTER we're saved, we are to do good works and to turn from our sins to please God. If we're obedient to God as believers, He will bless us in this life and eternally in the next. If we're disobedient to our Heavenly Father, He will punish us as He sees fit in this life, but as believers, our sins are forgiven and FORGOTTEN as far as the next life is concerned.
Don't make light of this issue! Nothing is more important than the gospel! Just one soul is worth more than all the material wealth in the entire world!
