Bloody April: Final Analysis on the COVID-19 nothingburger.
Well, well, well. Amelia has had a hard look at Cassie-Fooky's recent work on the fact that the total number of deaths is going to be the same by the end of the year, COVID-19 or not COVID-19. And has found something.
The only relevant event was the acceleration of deaths during the month of April. That is why we have decided to call it Bloody April. The increase in deaths during this month was the consequence of people being hit by COVID and dying (just a few months) earlier than they should. Plus a bunch of people who actually died from COVID and would not have died otherwise. But thoese would have been few and apart.
She also has found something else. All the deaths attributed to COVID from May the 1st onwards actually do not show in teh kind of graphs we developed as any kind of excess deaths. They are just part of the normal deaths of the year. Yes, people have died from COVID-19. But they would have died from another disease.
Finding the projected "normal" death rates from the early part of the year allows to calculate the number of real covid-induced early deaths. The method would have allowed to know roughly how many early deaths had taken place by May, or June at the latest, depending how soon the data would have been consolidated. This would have allowed to call out on the news outlets who have greatly overestimated the death toll caused (or accelerated) by COVID. We confirm that this actually works with up to date data from Sweden, Netherlands and the UK.
Well, we at the Legion believe we are done with COVID-19. A nothingburger if there was one!
