American Colonies (recently declared Independent States) created its' and hired, as a Lieutenant, John Paul Jones to serve aboard the USS Alfred. In 3 short years, he'd gallantly lead his crew to victory in the most spectacular way. He also faced censorship, inflation, taxation, infiltration, treason, misprison of treason, cancel culture & terror and come out victorious.
Once he arrived on station in France, he was surrounded by pretenders and spies who made his life difficult. Meanwhile, onboard his command, the as-yet lawless US Navy fought back insurrection, mutiny and privateers who sought to gain from their conquests rather than fight for their country - or, just stop off at the local pub instead of fighting.
In the 250 years it has been - how far have we come? Have we accomplished John Adam's soliloquy of Freedom, or, have did we rise only to be brought down from within? And what of George Washington's vision? Is this, yet close at hand?
Join us as we explore these and other topics - including the personal valet of the United States Plenipotentiary Ambassador - secrety working for the British, releases misinformation, relays national secrets and as recent scholars admit - poisoned his way to power and influence.
