Mitch McConnell SLAMS Hillary Clinton & The Unhinged Left: Hard To Take Them Seriously 10/9/18. McConnell invoked the comments made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton about civility.
In an interview, Clinton said, “You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about. That’s why I believe, if we are fortunate enough, to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again. Until then, the only thing Republicans seem to recognize and respect is strength.” McConnell today said that the final vote on Kavanaugh was a victory for “reason and deliberation” against “mob tactics.” “When they did not get their way,” he said, “when these tactics failed to sway us, they just turned up the anger even more.” He pointed to the violent threats Kavanaugh’s family and Republicans have received before saying “the madness hasn’t stopped,” citing calls to pack the court and some talk of impeaching Kavanaugh.
But then he brought up Clinton’s remarks:
“The far-left mob is not letting up. Earlier today former Secretary of State Clinton sent this signal as clear as today. This is Secretary Clinton. She told exactly how she views millions of Americans who hold different political views from her own. Here’s what she said: ‘You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for. If we’re fortunate enough to win back the House and/or the Senate, that’s when civility can start again.’ No peace until they get their way? More of these unhinged tactics? Apparently this is the left’s rallying cry. But fortunately the American people know that the fact-free politics of hate, fear, and intimidation are not how we actually govern in our democratic republic. The Senate and the nation will not be intimidated.”
