Boaters Amazed at Sight of Whale With Mouth Wide Open

Boaters were amazed at the sight of a whale with its mouth wide open in Geographe Bay, off Dunsborough, Western Australia, on October 2. Koring George captured the scene on camera and wrote on Facebook: “The whale would poke its head out of the water, open it’s mouth wide and scoop water in with his flippers. The scooping behavior was an unusual feeding behaviour. Literally the whale was scooping food into its mouth in a cookie monster om nom nom kinda way.” Experienced whale tour guides told the Busselton Dunsborough Times that the whale’s behaviour was uncommon to them.
