Fitness Expert, legend, and Olympic Fit Gym owner Rae Edwards and Host Clint Fuqua talk about the rest involved in performance training. Rae has been in 8 different US teams since 2003, four different Nigerian teams, and raced and placed with the biggest names in track and field.
At 19 years old, Rae made the current world record held up at competitions to this day. He’s been on every level of track and field team there is, and understands what it takes to be an Olympian. Now he says his history is chronicled in his salt and pepper beard.
Watch this episode to hear what Rae has learned about recovering from performance sports, and how we should apply this to the sports we encourage our kids to participate in. For children, he stresses, this is time to make mind-body connections and teach the disciplines, rather than force the disciplines.
Professional athletes are psychotic! The average ordinary person doesn’t have the mental capacity to hold a disciplined regimine. Many parents try to live through their children, and this can be dangerous for them. Mentally, you have to reach high levels because you want to, not because they are being forced to, which will ultimately destroy the mental ability to excel at performance.
