A matter of angles and light: The ozone problem which isn't.

Cassie-Fooky shows us some calculations. A photon travelling in a trajectory parallel to the equatorial plane of the Earth and aiming for the equator itself will travel 20 km through the ozone layer. But if it does so aiming at a point on parallel 85, well... it will travel through 60 km of the ozone layer... because it will be doing so at an angle.

Essentially, the increased time of travel through the ozone layer, the decreasing level of radiation and the increased production of ozone are linked. Problem is... if you produce too much ozone you are spending the photons that make it and also those that consume it. This explains why under some circumstances, the ozone gap will exist because to few photons reach ther region to do their photo thingy.
