Unlike some lighting sets which are separate products bundled together, this is a custom designed set with the front and rear lights fully complimenting each other.
The small and rather stylish set consists of a forward facing light that can also be used as a torch together with a multimode rear-facing red light. The current Amazon price of £14.99 and with an additional £5 discount at the time of writing makes this look a particularly attractive deal.
In the box were the front light, rear light, two USB to micro-USB charging cables, User Guide and mounts for the handlebars and rear light. The User Guide is large, well printed, easy to read and in colour.
The front light also works perfectly well as a torch when removed from the quick release mount and away from the bike at night. The 300 lumen light is one of the brightest I have seen in this price bracket. Using it could not be simpler. There is a single large and easy to access button on the top which scrolls through High, medium, and low light modes plus flash. The device is IP65 waterproof which means it should be fine in the rain for extended periods. On the rear is a grommet protected micro-USB port to charge the larger average 2000mAh Polymer Lithium Ion Battery which is claimed to give a runtime of up to five hours at the maximum power from a three-hour charge. An LED illuminates when the device is charging.
The rear light, which like the front has a quick release mount, is also IP65 water resistant and offers always or flashing modes at a choice of power levels. The rechargeable 500mAh is again larger than many rivals battery will run for over six hours when in standard continuous mode.
Both front and rear lights are extremely bright and should keep you hard to miss at night over a considerable distance. Build quality seems fine and both lights are small and neat enough to tuck away in a pocket when not needed. For the price, this is probably the best bike light set I have tried.
