Artista geniale, inquieto e provocatorio - autore di capolavori come Ragazzo morso da un ramarro, La vocazione di San Matteo, Conversione di San Paolo, Morte della Vergine - con la sua capacità di osservare e riprodurre gli attimi decisivi della realtà e un uso magistrale e rivoluzionario della luce, nel 1600 "inventa" la fotografia. Why can we consider Caravaggio a visionary? Brilliant, restless and provocative artist - author of masterpieces such as Boy with a lizard, The vocation of Saint Matthew, Conversion of Saint Paul, Death of the Virgin - with his ability to observe and reproduce the decisive moments of reality and masterly use revolutionary of light, in 1600 "invents" photography. With him, for the first time, the value of painting is no longer given by respect for hierarchies and decorum, but by the technical and intellectual capacity to represent things in their scandalous truth, with their load of violence, sickness and death.
