Two mice fight insomnia and the various causes thereof...
I am utterly flabbergasted that-as a huge fan of classic animation-I had never heard of animator Charlie Bowers before. This creator apparently worked with the Fleischer Brothers, Pathe-Freres and other animation studios, had a prolific career in animation of both the stop-motion and cell-drawn styles, as well as several live-action pieces...his career lasted from the late 1920's to at least the mid-1940's after which he spent his later years as an illustrator of children's books.
This five-and-a-half minute short film has Bowers as Director, Writer and Animator all in one. The feature shows great timing, style, a sense of humor Walter Lantz would definitely enjoy...and IMHO the Stop-motion animation itself is as good as any by Willis O'Brien or Wladyslaw Starewicz in their primes...
I don't know why Charlie Bowers isn't better well known-but now that I know he exists I am definitely going to be on the lookout for more...B&W, Sound.
