While I really love this song, there's one part that totally puts me off every time, and it's the refrain. Lyrically top notch as DM usually is, the happy-chirpy nursery rhyme style of the chorus melody, though I know that it is a stylistic means, is unbearable (at least to me). More than that, the so-called 12" version of this song was the album version with the synth loop at the end. Meh.
So I did my best to reduce the use of the refrain (to 1 to be precise) and make the entire song MUCH darker. That way it sounds more like a Goth/soft Industrial song, colder and much sadder. Of course I had to use third party music pieces to make that happen. Some of you might recognize them.
You may recognize some of the third party music used in this edit. The first, let's call it, interlude, is from the movie OST "Requiem For A Dream" (2000, directed by Darren Aronofsky), played by the Cronos Quartet, composed by Clint Mansell, the second one at the end is an instrumental from Type O Negative's first album "Slow, Deep And Hard" and it's called "Glass Walls Of Limbo".
