"My father spent 4 years at Flossenberg. He was never mad at bthe Germans because he was a forced laborer at the Mezzerschmitt factory where he learned machining. After he was liberated by US soldiers, he stayed Germany till 1950. He told me that the four years he stayed in Germany were wonderful times. He told me he loved Germany and the German people. He married my mother, an Austrian orphan raised in Germany during World War 2, 1948. They moved to the United States in 1950. My father wanted to stay in Germany because he loved Germany. He told me that the German people were the nicest people in the World. He supported Hitler because Jews were destroying Europe and the Ukraine. He was proud to work for the Germans in Flossenberg, and because of working at Mezzerschmitt, he was able to make a good living working for General Motors as a Tool and Die maker. If he wasn't in Flossenberg, he would be a poor farmer in the Ukraine or he would have been murdered, likey grandfather, by the Soviet Red Army. The Soviet Red Army executed my grandfather in 1944. As the son of a Ukrainian prisoner in Flossenberg and an Austrian orphan raised in Germany, I am proud of my European heritage.
