Catch Me if You Can ... Snake Gives Queensland Catcher a Hard Time

A seasoned snake catcher had a lucky escape from an eastern brown snake in Queensland recently, demonstrating the dangers of the job. Video uploaded to Facebook on December 12 shows Stuart McKenzie dropping his bag just as he’s placing the five-foot snake inside it. Writing on Facebook, McKenzie explained his actions: “As I lowered him into the bag he flung his body upwards and I didn’t react quick enough and as I let him go, rather than going into the bag he was now sitting on the rim of the snake bag coming up the handle. I immediately dropped the bag as he was getting way to close to my hand.” After 20 minutes, McKenzie found the snake again, inside a cardboard box. This time, he made no mistake and safely bag it.
