Hey guys! I went to Caru Cu Bere in Bucharest, Romania.
An incredibly popular place among locals and tourists alike, because of its history and long trajectory, but also because the excellent ambience inside the restaurant, it truly looks like a palace!
I was fortunate enough to get a table, I came at a relatively low-activity hour and there was still A LOT of people in there, I'm very fortunate to have gotten a place to sit (since I didn't have a reservation) and therefore seized the opportunity. I ordered something that normally would be for 3-4 people, just for me! No joke.
I had a little bit of difficulty to actually finish it all, I had to leave a little bit of the "Veg" portion, because what really interested me was the meat, in this case, different kinds of meat in one plate, correction: two plates.
Here's what I ordered: (You can also hear the waiter listing it all when he brings the food)
- Pork Knuckle w/ incredibly crispy skin
- Mititei (Romanian grilled sausage)
- Sauerkraut or Sour cabbage
- Homemade Horseradish
- Sausage w/ cheese
- Lamb sausage
- Spicy sausage
- Roasted potatoes
- Pickles
- Romanian Chili pepper
- Duck legs
- Polenta (included)
In Romanian:
- Ciolan de porc la cuptor
- Carnati plescoi
- Carnati vienezi cu cascaval
- Mititei
- Carnati de oaie
- Pulpe de rata la cuptor
- Varza calita
- Cartofi taranesti
The food was approximately 273 RON which is a really good price considering the place and the amount of food. I thank the staff and the manager, who DID allow me to briefly visit the kitchen, unfortunately I was not allowed to bring the camera with me. Still a great gesture and I will come back as soon as I am in Bucharest.
Do not miss this place, it is truly a lifetime experience.
