Original composition of Breath of Fire music was done by Capcom's sound team Alph Lyla. They were comprised of Yasuaki Fujita, Mari Yamaguchi, Minae Fuji, and Yoko Shimomura, who were originally credited under the pseudonyms "Bun Bun", "Mari", "Ojarin", and "Pii♪", respectively. Tatsuya Nishimura was also said to have participated in the composing and sound effects for the game. The SNES version of the music is ok. It's much better than what I've heard on the Game Boy Advanced version. However, for whatever reason, at least to me, the SNES original version doesn't sound quite as good as I expected. This is possibly because the SNES was the first system that I first heard MIDI music and became enamored by the capabilities and possibilities. Both Final Fantasy IV and VI (at the time II and III in my region) made great use of the MIDI, and was incredibly cinematic for its time. Even so, this Battle theme from the original Breath of Fire is still pretty awesome. Though I did pump it up a bit, compared to the SNES MIDI version, which can be heard here: https://youtu.be/ANhKF_pOv6Y
I found the MIDI I used here: https://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/
