In God’s way of working with us, it is clear, as I hope to show you, that in as much as we have sipped or taken deep draughts from the foaming and spicy chalice of this world, someone has to drink of the chalice of suffering before God will grant us mercy, healing and peace. The Justice of God must be satisfied before His Mercy and Peace is bestowed. God’s Mercy removes blockages and defects. We must “pay-in” to have this Mercy bestowed. St. Augustine puts it like this: “God made us without us, but He will not save us without us.” The Protestants often take the ledger approach to salvation. One day they are in the column of the debts/losses… and the next, they are transferred to the column of the gains. No expiation and payment needed by anyone save His Majesty, Jesus Christ. But St. Paul says to the Colossians: “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up those things that are wanting of the sufferings of Christ, in my flesh, for His body, which is the Church” (1:24). Paul suffered for others, members of the Church, so that they might receive mercy from God. Clearly God’s Mercy is not just quick easy thing. Once again, in as much as we have sipped or taken deep draughts from the foaming and spicy chalice of this world, someone has to drink of the chalice of suffering before God will grant us mercy, healing and peace. Let me now provide three examples of this from recent times… For more please visit http://reginaprophetarum.org/#/ & remember to say 3 Hail Marys for the priest
