El amor brujo, 8th Movement “Ritual Fire Dance” by Manuel de Falla

Spanish composer Manuel de Falla completed his ballet “El amor brujo (The Bewitched Love)” in 1915, on behalf of a commission from flamenco dancer Pastora Imperio. The premiere performance was given April of 1915 at the Teatro Lara in Madrid. The premiere was unsuccessful, and a version adapted for a larger orchestra was premiered in 1916, also in Madrid.

The ballet is based on Andalusian culture and folk tales.
