Following the downing of the Viscount, The Rhodesian government has launched a series of hard strikes into Zambia against alleged camps of ZAPU, the nationalist guerrilla forces led by Joshua Nkomo. The strikes have the support of the
three black members of the ruling Executive Council and now the nationalists find themselves fightingblack as well as white soldiers. Inside Rhodesia, Africans are also being trained to fight a guerrilla-type war as auxiliaries to the main security forces, another
move that is bringing African against African.
The Video mentions the, "Rhodesian war machine" - instantly asserting that Rhodesia was somehow the dominant power in this struggle, when in fact, the Rhodesian armed forces rarely had 10,000 men in active service at one time and were in fact outnumbered by the terrorist-communists 3 or 4 to one. They also suffered under a decade-plus of international sanctions that kept them desperately short of arms and equipment - helicopters, tactical aircraft, tanks, and even rifles and trucks. They were hardly a "war machine." In fact they worked near constant miracles with tiny underequipped forces that relied on excellent training, leadership, tactics, and elan. The Rhodesians showed the world how to fight a counterinsurgency without massive loss of civilian life and under the most trying of circumstances.
But the media's bias is incredible, they more or less put a white hat on the terrorists and a black one on the Rhodesians from the get go.
