The Type 996 was introduced in 1998 and was the first 911 to have a water-cooled flat-6 engine, with all previous 911’s, for 34 years were air-cooled.

The 3.4 litre flat-6 produced 296 bhp; the Turbo S produced 444 bhp, with a larger 3.6 litre displacement, and could top 189 mph.

Production ended in 2005.
