Spirit of The North - Playthrough Part 4 (Ending)
The last couple of levels in Spirit of The North were polar opposites. First it was some confined dark caves and then a very open spirit world (I presume) with no clear indication of where to go and what to do. In the end you fox turns into another spirit fox close up the source of the calamity and you are able to create Aurora Borealis, but the story is so vague that's just my interpretation.
DO NOT BUY this game. It's lacking in some basic game design by not having clear objectives, open levels with mostly nothing in them and vague story that keeps you guessing what is going on (for a game based on some Nordic legends it would've been useful to include said legends in some form at least after completing the game).
Hell, even the collectables are weird - you need to bring a staff to a dead monk, both of which could be anywhere on the map, which means that you may have found one component and be missing the other - I'm pretty sure some of them are located in different areas, which means if you don't find the staff and bring it with you to the next are then you are not getting the reward.
The controls are OK, but I wish the fox had a run button to make traversal faster (it does have a slow walk for some bizarre reason even though it's never needed once in the entire game). That being said these controls are not fitted for speed and precision based obstacles that the game randomly throws at you - it boggles the mind why those were in there in favour of some puzzles.
Speaking of puzzles, there were barely any and they were somewhat random. Once you learn how the pictures match you can use it for the entire game. Sometimes the hardest part is figuring out what you can do. For example I didn't realise that you could take spirit energy from pictures and runes back - I only did it by chance in the cave level near the end where you have to do it to progress. The powers you obtain are barely utilised due to the length of the game itself. Only the dash is useful since it makes traversal faster, but it is rechargeable with no clear indication if you can or can't do one at the moment, which could lead to some platforming fails and tons of humiliating backtracking (which is a major part of this game).
Overall this is a very incompetently made game that baits you with pretty visuals. I'd advise against getting it.
