Interdimensional super terrorist, Doctor Eggman, launches an all-out assault upon a civilian cityscape. Within moments, world-renound public hero #1 (and part-time vigilante on the side), Sonic the Hedgehog blasts through his forces, annihilating a squadron of cutting-edge killer androids. One cocky one-liner later, and he's got their attention. Sonic keeps the fight on them up until the Guardian Units of Nations quickly arrive on the scene, allowing him to leave the forces to the chaos, luring the bulk of the badniks outside the city in a global high-speed chase... but not before the metropolitan landscape that was once home to hundreds of thousands of people is devastated in destruction from the act of terror. Cutting his losses, the fastest thing alive takes the fight across the hemisphere to an entirely different time zone. The androids are on his tail, but Sonic won't have any of that! He quickly manages to lose them again, but this metallic army prepares an ambush that the Blue Blur may be ill-prepared for. He charges through a secret underground passageway and zips around the edge of the storm to meet them. Sonic attempts to launch a sneak attack, but the badniks are ready for him, gunning him down on sight. Sonic drops to the ground, and one startling question wakes in his mind: "Are there... too many to kill them all...?" But there's no time to waste. Sonic the Hedgehog takes the chance... along with all of his impossible odds.
This is the kind of Sonic the Hedgehog experience I came to know and love growing up. Action, Adventure, Adrenaline, Exhilaration, Thrills, Complexity, Seriousness. It was cool, edgy, and dripping with attitude. But something changed roughly around 2010. Something's missing. And we want to get it back. We want... TRUE SONIC SPIRIT.
