Homemade mini melting furnace Mk 2
My home made mini furnace, sporting a double burner/tonue system for melting brass, cooper and silver, Sorry about the quality of the sound whilst it was running, what I was saying is the jets were not positioned exactly in their middle position causing the mixture of air and gas to bun slightly richer than normal, once rectified she burned nice and clean.
The main body and bottom steel discs were cut from a reclaimed Co2 bottle of the pub kind, 2 inches for the bottom and four inches deep for the main body of the furnace, the cement is commercial grade Victas refractory cement, casted by using a plastic bottle for the middle former, a simple system made from off of the shelf stainless fittings, but black iron like the larger burner show will be fine also. She will melt several hundred grams of metal in about 10-15 minutes. Total cost less than fifty bucks.
